The amount of erosion depends on the vegetation. The rate of erosion increases if vegetation is removed, this causes the soil to crumble because bare soil offers no protection against wind and rain.
So in this case the lighter spaces, or the areas with few trees and bare land, are the areas where erosion is likely to occur.
