If non reactive gases are taken in a closed container at constant volume and temperature we can apply Dalton's law of partial pressure:-
According to Dalton's law of partial pressure:-
In a mixture of non-reacting gases, the total pressure exerted is equal to the sum of the partial pressures of the individual gases.
Hence ,
P total= 740 torr
Partial pressure of gas X = 340torr
Partial pressure of gas Y = 264 torr
Partial pressure of gas T = 100 torr
Partial pressure of gas Z = ?
P total = PX + PY + PT + PZ
740 = 340+ 264+100+Pz
Pz = 740-( 340+264+100)
= 740-704
= 36 torr
Partial pressure of gas Z will be 36 torr
