Decide on the purpose of the poem that you will write:
Offer advice?
Provide encouragement?
Teach life lessons?
Decide on your central idea. What do you want your poem to be about? If you are offering advice, what is it about? If you are providing encouragement, about what? If you are teaching a life lesson, what is it?
Think of examples, descriptions, and explanations that you can include to make your central idea clear to the reader.
Arrange the details in an order that makes sense. Use stanzas to organize your ideas.
Look back at the speech for inspiration :-) That is another reason I provided you the link!
