The branch of Psychology I choose is Humanism because it is related to this case.
Think of a time in your life when someone you know was having difficulty.
It is the case of a friend who used to have severe low self-esteem. He did not trust himself. He depended so much on the opinions of other people. So he spent his life trying to satisfy other people's opinions. And hurt him a lot. He was never happy.
I tried to talk to him to let him know that he had to accept himself the way he was. I applied the humanistic perspective trying to convince him that he was a complete human being with positives and negatives as we all are.
The humanistic perspective invites us to look at the person as a "whole," not just its parts. It put emphasis on valuable concepts such as freedom, self-acceptance, and self-trust.
